Tim James Rhodes, RA. AIA

I formed Rhodes Architecture + Light in the summer of 1995 to be close to residential design. I wanted to understand the people I was working with to realize the houses they wanted while keeping my hands in the details and materials.

Before that… eight years of architecture, including a six year degree combined with minors in philosophy and psychology, led to Seattle and a small architectural practice in the Pike Place Market. I learned design and management as part of an inventive firm building stores, offices, and residences. Sixteen years later I am fortunate to have worked with many private clients who wanted to build spaces that were new, unique, exciting, and surprising…. on a budget. I believe that art is most successful with limitations.

Off the clock I've raised two children, studied history, read too much, explored some of the Pacific Northwest, created two small communities (and had to live in one), and learned Muay Thai. I am fortunate to be in Seattle practicing architecture and to have loyal and creative people who work with me.

Since graduating with a bachelor of arts in architecture degree in 1987, Mark has worked as a project manager for both architectural and general contracting firms, in the residential, commercial, and retail sectors. His general contracting experience includes estimating, scheduling, and project production. While working within the Starbucks Coffee Company's architectural & engineering services group, Mark maintained their CAD drawing database, prototyped new store design & development, and provided communication to vendors and inside design staff. He also spent several years as a licensed contractor, specializing in finish carpentry, and custom cabinetry design & installation.

Mark joined Rhodes Architecture & Light in 2003, and has assisted Tim with design, drafting, 3-D modeling, permit processing, and product research. His attention to detail and past experience combine to make him a knowledgeable resource, and valuable asset.

Josh Meharry, LEED AP

Josh's interests in residential architecture stem from a belief that homes are one of the few spaces that people interact with on a deeper, personal level and have the ability to shape the way the residents feel about themselves, their connection with their community, and their environment. Josh earned his professional Bachelor of Architecture degree at the University of Oregon during which time he studied architecture and city planning in Rome and Delhi, and completed his thesis studio in Portland, Oregon. After receiving his degree, Josh spent four years working at GBD Architects on a range of project types and scales including condo towers, commercial office buildings, urban landscape designs, and community master plans.

Josh has also worked independently on small commercial and residential design projects, and has consulted for a development group on issues of sustainability. In 2010 Josh and his wife relocated to Seattle where he worked as a framer for a custom home builder before joining up with Rhodes Architecture + Light. His diverse skill sets in design, documentation, 3D modeling/ rendering, and construction make him a strong asset throughout the design process. Outside of architecture Josh enjoys experiencing foreign countries and cultures as well as outdoor activities such as camping, kayaking, snowboarding and surfing.
